Drilling Turkey 2025 (6th International Drilling Congress and Exhibition) News
8-9 Mayıs 2025The 6th International Drilling Congress and Exhibition (Drilling Turkey 2025), with the slogan “Digital Transformation,” was held on May 8-9, 2025, by the Chamber of Mining Engineers of the Turkish Chamber of Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) at the General Directorate of Mining Research and Exploration in Ankara. There were 26 oral presentations and 2 poster presentations in 7 sessions.
The opening speeches were delivered by the Congress President, Mr. İlker ERTEM, the President of the TMMOB Mining Engineers' Association, Mr. Ayhan YÜKSEL, and the President of the TMMOB, Mr. Emin KORAMAZ. Following this, a memorial ceremony was held for Sadrettin ALPAN, and certificates of appreciation were presented to the sponsors.
In the first session, invited speaker Mr. Hussain Rabia presented his paper titled “Rebound Tolerance: A Tool for Well Design and Well Control.” In addition to technical presentations on drilling applications, there were presentations on drilling applications by MTA (Osman Kaan GÜNEŞ, Tolga AKGÖL - “A General Overview of MTA's Geothermal Drilling After 2010”) and TPIC (A. U. Etçi - “TPIC Field Service Services”). There were two presentations on drilling education. These were Tuna EREN's “Adapting to Future Well Control Education” and Tolga AKGÖL's “Deep Learning Applications in Drilling.”
Bülent TOKA's presentation titled “Is the Legislation Sufficient for Mining Exploration Drilling?” and Ömer GÜNAY's presentation titled “Drilling and the Environment” offered a different perspective on drilling. Geophysical applications in drilling were discussed by Uğur ZAMAN (Geophysical Well Log Measurements Applied in Drilling) and M. E.min CANDANSAYAR (Improving Mining Drilling Success with Geophysical Research). Nuray KARAPINAR, along with Mustafa AKILLI, Murat ÇİLOĞULLARI, Emre ŞİMŞEK, and Cihan YURTERİ, presented “Disposal of Waste Drilling Mud and Dehydration Using Geotextile Tubes in Accordance with Environmental Regulations,” which provided an example of minimizing the negative environmental impact of drilling.
