The 78th Turkish Geological Congress
13-17 Nisan 2026The 78th Turkish Geological Congress, organized continuously since 1947 by the Chamber of Geological Engineers of TMMOB, will be held on 13–17 April 2026 at the MTA Cultural Center in Ankara.
Main Theme: “Water, Drought, Climate Change, and Geology”
This year’s Congress focuses on globally pressing environmental challenges, adopting the main theme *“Water, Drought, Climate Change, and Geology.” Embracing a vision aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the event aims to highlight the critical role of geosciences and geological engineering in addressing global issues such as hunger, poverty, and access to clean water.
A Transdisciplinary Search for Solutions
Within the scope of the Congress, the interconnections between water security, energy, food systems, and ecosystem health—directly impacted by the climate crisis—will be examined. Strategies to mitigate crises arising from both climate-related disasters, including meteorological, agricultural, and hydrogeological droughts, and the overexploitation of natural resources will be discussed.
A Scientific and Social Gathering
In addition to core fields of geosciences, the Congress will evaluate the past and future impacts of climate change on the Earth system. Serving as both a scientific platform and a social networking environment for professionals, the Organizing Committee invites all geoscientists and relevant stakeholders to contribute to this long-standing tradition by presenting their scientific studies.
